“In 1984 we entered a worldwide printing contest at an industry trade show. We submitted a full-color face print of Kenny Rogers we printed for his 1984 World Tour,” Anderson said. “It won first place! Since that day, we’ve won more than 100 industry awards for printing excellence worldwide and we’ve never looked back.”

According to Anderson the Klock Werks Artist Series was exactly the kind of project that still fuels his creative side and appeals to him as an artist.

“You want a realistic reproduction of the original drawing and you also want to achieve a print people will wear,” he said. “For the first shirt in the series, I was pleased with the end results. You can still see the pencils texture from the original artwork in the printed t-shirt.”

The original artwork is first rendered on the computer, then electronically adjusted to break down the colors needed for printing. Once that is finished, it goes to film for each needed color in the printing. The film is then exposed to make a screen allowing all the colors to be put together, one screen at a time, to achieve the final image.

“It’s a lot of work, almost as much work as a custom paint job on a motorcycle,” he said. “But like a custom paint job, it’s always well worth the extra effort”.

Anderson’s designs can be seen on t-shirts in the music industry with bands like Metallica and solo artists like Taylor Swift and Garth Brooks.
